FILIPINO DEAF DREAM









The first time interpreted masses were held at the San Isidro Parish inTaft Avenue Pasay City last October 21, 2007. And thru the efforts of students of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (DLS-CSB SDEAS) these interpreted masses continue to this day. The second year Deaf students (E2A and E2B) under Ms. Maria Teresa Buenaventura’s RECONSE classes have taken the responsibility of organizing and coordinating this effort.

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) School of Deaf Education andApplied Studies (SDEAS) students, faculty, alumni and members of the school community welcomed the 14th Deaf Festival with the celebration of a Deaf Mass on November 17, 2008 at the Augusto-Rosario Gonzales Theater.


The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Scho ol of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (DLS-CSB SDEAS) Silent Steps Performing Arts Group graced the 36 th Induction and Ceremonies of the Rotary Club of University District Manila (RCUDM) last July 3, 2007 at the Casino EspaƱol de Manila.

The Deaf program of the De La Salle-College of Saint

Benilde (DLS-CSB) was commitment to continue the Lasallian mission of Saint Benilde: to educate the youth lead them to their faith and pursue a life long vocation. Saint Benilde was impartial to those he helped. He believed in and respected students. Instead using verbal language to educate a Deaf boy, he learned the sign languageof the Deaf Catholic faith.




OZMAMIZ CITY, November 15, 2008─Aiming to strengthen their spirituality, 45 hearing-impaired teenagers from Iligan City, LaSalle University (LSU), Ozamiz City, the Columban priests-run Hangop Kabataan,Pagadian City and the Columban Sisters-run Community of Hope Special Education Center this city, gathered for a two-day recollection November 13-14






The Duke of Edinburg’s Award International Association, Asia Pacific Region in cooperation with De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies conducted the first Award Leader Training last February 13 and 14 at the CSB Hotel International Conference Center.






Ana Kristina Arce once again takes the spotlight the chose the SDEAS Alumna and dedicated Deaf advocate for their May-June 2010.







Deaf students in the Philippines, Nora Shannon, associate PEN-International, visited Manila from August 18-27, 2009. The purpose for the visit was to learn more about the country's educational sy

stem for deaf students. Ms. Theresa Christine De La Torre.







MCCID Batch 2006 graduates and TESDA Scholars’ Rumijae Bubon, Emmanuel Cruz and Nonito Visagar Jr. were the latest Deaf encoders hired by the Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The three started working in June 2008.
