The Deaf program of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) was created as a commitment to continue the Lasallian mission of Saint Benilde: to educate the youth, lead them to their faith and pursue a life long vocation.
Saint Benilde was impartial to those he helped. Obvious difficulties did not stop him from responding to his commitment. He believed in and respected the uniqueness of his students. Instead of using his own verbal language to educate a Deaf boy, he learned the sign language of the Deaf and eventually used it to instruct and guide his apprentice towards Catholic faith.
